What would life be if we had no courage to attempt anything?

— Vincent van Gogh

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Strip out every attempt that might fail and what remains is a very small life. Almost everything worth having started as something you were not sure you could manage. Safety is not neutral; it quietly sets a ceiling and then calls that ceiling sensible.

Find one thing you have been circling without starting, and take the smallest real step toward it this week. Not the preparation for the step, the step. If it goes badly you will know something you did not know before, and that is worth more than the comfort of having stayed still.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

What is the last thing you attempted without knowing the outcome?
