Without music, life would be a mistake.

— Friedrich Nietzsche

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Some things justify themselves. They solve no problem, improve no outcome, and yet a life stripped of them turns into a sequence of tasks that nobody would choose. Whatever plays that role for you is not a reward for finishing the real work. It is part of what the work is for, and the first thing to disappear when you are busy.

Notice what you have quietly cut out of your weeks. Put one of those things back on purpose, at a time you would otherwise fill with something productive. Do not try to make it useful; that is the point of it.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

What sound makes an ordinary day worth having for you?
