When someone’s jealous of you, they’re really admitting you’ve got something worth wanting.

Jealousy is uncomfortable to receive and it is also information. Nobody envies a person they think has nothing, so the reaction, however unpleasant, points at something you have that they wanted. That does not make their behavior acceptable or easy to be around. It does change what the behavior means.

Try not to shrink what you are doing to make someone else comfortable, because that costs you and rarely helps them. Keep being straightforward with them rather than smug. And if it turns into something that damages you, put distance between yourself and the situation.
