Holidays can be the loudest reminder of what’s missing. Make one small new tradition that’s yours.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Occasions built around everybody being together get very loud about whoever is not. The empty chair, the person who moved out, the one who died, all of it gets amplified by the day itself. Feeling worse in December than in October is not a failure of gratitude. It is what happens when a date insists on a comparison.

If it helps, add one small thing that belongs only to now. A walk, a particular food, a call to someone who also finds the day hard. It replaces nothing, it just gives the day a piece that is not measured against before.
