River rocks got smooth by getting hit a million times. Your edges are getting softer, not weaker.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Being worn down and being improved can look identical from the inside. Repeated difficulty takes something off you, and what it takes is often sharpness you did not need: reactivity, the urge to argue every point, the need to be right immediately. Losing that is not a loss of strength. To other people it usually reads as steadiness.

Check whether you are becoming harder to knock over or simply tired, since those need different responses. If it is the second, rest. If it is the first, notice it, because nobody else points that change out to you.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Has anything sharp about you worn smooth over the years?
