Going somewhere new is lonely at first. Company shows up once you’ve made the trail visible.

The early part of any unusual direction is thin on company, not because people disagree with you but because they cannot see yet where you are going. That loneliness is real and it is not evidence that you chose wrong. Most of the time it means you are early rather than mistaken.

While it is quiet, keep something that shows your progress, even a rough log of what you tried. Find one person doing something similar somewhere else, online or two towns over. You do not have to be alone in it to be the first at it.
