Somewhere in you is a kid who thought you’d be amazing. Don’t let them down.

Before you learned what was realistic, you had a straightforward sense of what you might do. That version of you was not naive so much as unedited. Most of what has happened since has been the addition of limits, some of them accurate and some of them just repeated often enough to sound true.

This is not a debt you owe anyone. Still, it is worth asking what that kid would be sorry to find you had stopped trying. If something comes to mind, give it an hour this week.
