Hating on someone else’s win doesn’t move you an inch closer to yours.

Resentment feels like effort because it burns the same energy, but it points outward where nothing of yours is located. Their result was never in your column to begin with. The discomfort is real and worth listening to, since it usually means you want something similar and have not started.

Next time someone’s news lands badly, try asking what specifically you envy, not who. Then find the smallest version of that thing you could start this week. Envy is a decent compass and a terrible destination.
