Think in decades and a bad month gets a lot smaller.

A bad stretch takes up all available space while you are in it, because the present is the only thing with volume. Stretched across ten years, one rough month is a short dip in a long line. That does not make it hurt less. It does change what it predicts about how things go from here.

When something goes badly, try asking whether it will matter in a year, then in five. Most things quietly fail that test. The few that pass are worth your full attention, and now you know which ones they are.
