Responsibility is not punishment when it returns control.

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

Responsibility is often heard as a verdict, something imposed as a consequence. Used well, it is the opposite: the thing that gives you back some steering in a situation where you had none. What feels like taking on a burden is usually taking back a lever.

When accepting responsibility feels heavy, ask what it makes possible rather than what it costs. If it opens no action at all, it may be misplaced. If it opens something, that is the point.
