You can’t choose the weather. You can choose whether you bring a jacket.

RESILIENCE
Conditions are not up for negotiation. The test is on Thursday whether or not you are ready, the shift is cold, the bus is late, and none of it responds to how you feel about it. Preparation is the part that stays yours, and it gets done in advance, at a moment when the problem is still theoretical and therefore easy to dismiss.
Look at the week ahead and find the thing most likely to go wrong. Then do the small preparatory version now. Charging something, packing something, sending one message early is usually the whole jacket.
What are you refusing to prepare for because it seems unfair?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
