A stranger saying “you’ve got this” at the start line can carry you further than your training plan.
GRATITUDE
GRATITUDE
Belief from outside does something preparation cannot. Training tells you what your body can do; a stranger’s sentence at the right moment tells you somebody expects you to manage it, and that expectation is oddly easy to borrow when you have none of your own left. It is not a substitute for the work. It is the thing that gets the work used.
Since it is this cheap to give, hand it out. Say the plain encouraging sentence to somebody who looks nervous today. They may need it more than anyone would guess from outside.
Which stranger’s encouragement stayed with you longer than expected?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
