Ask for feedback on purpose. It’s scarier than waiting for it, and way more useful.
RESILIENCE
RESILIENCE
Asking is harder than receiving, because you cannot pretend you were ambushed. You invited it, which means sitting still while somebody tells you the thing they might otherwise have said only to other people. What comes back is far more useful than the vague praise that arrives unrequested.
Ask one specific question rather than what did you think. What is the weakest part, what would you cut, what would stop you picking this. Specific questions get honest answers, and honest answers are the only ones worth the discomfort.
Whose honest opinion of your work have you never requested?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
