Forgiving someone doesn’t mean you’re weak. It means you’re done letting them rent space in your head.
RESILIENCE
RESILIENCE
Forgiveness is not a statement that what happened was acceptable, and it does not need the other person to be sorry or even to know. It is the point where you stop running the argument again on the bus, in the shower, at two in the morning. That rehearsal takes something from you daily, long after the event itself ended.
If you are ready, and only if you are, let one replay go unfinished. Notice what your attention does with the space. Forgiving does not mean going back, and you are allowed to keep every bit of the distance.
Who still occupies your thoughts rent free after all this time?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
