Nobody in the audience is grading your hands. They’re waiting to hear what you came up there to say.
RESILIENCE
RESILIENCE
Audiences are not watching your hands, your first sentence or whatever you think is going wrong. They are following what you are saying and deciding whether it is worth their time, which means most of your attention is aimed at a detail nobody registers. Self-consciousness zooms in on things the room never sees.
Put your attention on the content instead of the delivery. Know your opening line and your closing line, then let the middle be imperfect. If you lose your place, pause openly, because silence reads as confidence much more often than it reads as failure.
What would you say if nobody noticed your shaking hands?
