Stepping away from a project for a day isn’t quitting. Fresh eyes catch what tired eyes defended.

CREATIVITY

WHAT THIS MEANS

Distance is part of the work rather than a break from it. While you stare at something you slowly stop seeing it, because your eyes start filling in what you meant instead of what is actually there. You also build loyalty to choices simply because they cost you effort, and that loyalty is what hides the mistakes from you.

When you catch yourself defending a choice you cannot explain, close it and do something physical until tomorrow. Come back and just look for one minute before touching anything. Whatever bothers you in that first minute is usually the real problem.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

What would a day away let you finally see clearly?
