Being coachable is a talent. It just doesn’t show up on the highlight tape.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Some abilities cannot be filmed. Taking an instruction, trying it immediately without arguing, and coming back having practiced it is a skill, and it decides who improves fastest across a season. Nobody scouts for it directly and everybody notices its absence. It is also learnable, which is more than can be said for most of what gets called talent.

Next time somebody tells you to change something, change it on the very next attempt, even if you think you were right. Discuss it afterwards. Doing it first is what keeps people teaching you.
