Pretending not to care is a way of staying safe, because nothing you never tried at can count as a failure. It looks relaxed from the outside and it is usually fear in a comfortable jacket. The catch is that the pose has to be kept up, and keeping it up means never finding out what you could have done. That bill arrives quietly and late.

You do not have to argue with anybody about any of this. Just do not let a room’s attitude set yours. Care about your thing openly and let people think what they like.
