Visibility is uncomfortable because possibility becomes measurable.

While a thing stays potential, it can be anything. The moment it is public, it becomes a specific object that people rate, and the gap between what you hoped and what it is becomes visible. That measurement is the real source of the discomfort.

Recognize the fear as a fear of measurement rather than of the work being bad. Then measure it deliberately: what would count as a good outcome for you. Having your own scale makes other people’s less overwhelming.
