Friends who pull you away from God aren’t friends. They’re detours with good jokes.
GRATITUDE
GRATITUDE
Liking someone and being good for you are two separate facts, and the funny ones make that harder to see. A friendship that consistently moves you away from what you believe is doing something to you, whatever the jokes are like. That does not make them bad people or mean you cut everybody off.
Look at who you are in the hour after you leave each group. Keep the friendships and change what you do together, or hold a bit more of your own ground in them. Spend time near people who make faith easier to keep.
Who makes you laugh while quietly pulling you somewhere you regret?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
