Generosity is the fastest way to prove your money doesn’t own you.

Money gets a grip through the small refusals, the flinch when something costs more than you planned. Giving some away breaks the grip, because it proves to you rather than to anybody else that the number is not in charge. Somebody with very little can do this and somebody with plenty can fail to.

Give something away this week at a size that you actually notice but that does not put you in trouble. Do it without telling anyone and see how it feels afterwards. Ownership is easier to keep when you have proved you can let some of it go.
