A God who confirms every opinion you already hold is convenient, and also suspicious. Real relationship includes being told things you did not want to hear. If prayer never turns you around, never leads to an apology, never costs you a position you liked, it is worth asking who is doing the talking. Agreement that never challenges you is usually an echo.

Bring something you feel certain about to God this week and leave real room for the answer to be no. Notice which topics you never pray about, because those are usually the ones you have already settled. Let one of them be open again.
