Envy is asking God why He wrote someone else’s story instead of reading your own.

Envy is a reading problem. You spend so long studying the version of someone else’s life you can see that you never get to the one you are actually living, and then you resent God for the allocation. What you are holding up is their highlight against your full document. It is not a fair comparison and it is also not the point.

When the feeling shows up, let it tell you what you want rather than what you lack. That information is useful. Then put the phone down and do one thing that belongs to your own story, however small it looks beside theirs.
