Holding a grudge is like paying rent on a room you never wanted to live in.

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Grudges charge you rent daily and bill the other person nothing. You keep the memory furnished, heated, and available, you visit more often than you would admit, and the whole time they are somewhere else entirely. Forgiveness is not the same as saying it was acceptable. It is deciding to stop funding a room you never wanted.

Work out what the grudge is actually getting you, because it is usually protection or the feeling of being right. Say that part out loud to God. Then take one step a person who was letting go would take, even if the feeling has not caught up.
