Receipts fade in your pocket. Kindness doesn’t fade in eternity.

Almost everything you are keeping track of will be illegible in a year. The purchases, the scores, the tally of who owes what, all of it fades the way ink fades on a receipt in a back pocket. What you did for a person does not work that way. It stays in them and keeps travelling in directions you will never see.

Think of something somebody did for you that they have probably forgotten. Do one thing at that scale for someone this week. Then let go of it, since the whole point is that you are not the one keeping the record.
