Whoever cooked tonight was tired too. Eat like you know that.

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Whoever put food on the table tonight had their own day first. That work happens after work, usually while tired, usually unnoticed, and it gets treated as a background feature of the house rather than something a person chose to do. Meals do not appear on their own. Somebody decided, shopped, stood there, and cleaned up afterward.

Say thank you specifically, about the actual food, to the actual person. Stay at the table ten minutes longer instead of leaving the second you finish. Then do the dishes once without being asked and without mentioning it.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Who made your last meal, and what did it cost them?
