Your friend’s mom who always fed you was part of raising you. She’d love to hear that.

GRATITUDE
Raising a person is not done by two people. Somebody else’s kitchen, somebody else’s rules about shoes in the hallway, somebody else asking how your exams went and actually listening: that shaped you too. The adults who fed you without being obliged to were doing real work, and almost none of them know they counted.
Tell one of them. A message is enough, and it does not need to be long. Say what you remember specifically, the food or the kitchen or the thing they always said, and tell them it mattered. That message will be reread more times than you would guess.
Whose kitchen raised you a little without anyone calling it that?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
