Worn-out soles mean you went places. Respect the mileage.

Wear is a record. Thin soles, a scuffed toe, the shape your foot has pressed into a shoe over two years: all of it is evidence of a life being used rather than stored. Things that stay pristine are usually things that stayed in a cupboard, and the damage on well-used objects is proof that they did their job.
Stop being slightly embarrassed by the state of things that have earned it. Look at what you own and work out which items are worn because you actually did something. Then keep going out in them. There is plenty of time later for possessions that stay in perfect condition.
Where did the wear on your shoes actually come from?
