Save the voice notes from people you love. Someday their voice will be the thing you want most.

A voice carries things text cannot: the pace of it, the laugh at the end, the particular way somebody says your name. Recordings feel ordinary while a person is around and turn into something else entirely once they are not. That is not a comfortable thought, but it is a true one, and it costs nothing to act on early.

If it feels right, keep a few of the messages you would otherwise clear out. Nothing formal, just stop deleting all of them. And ring the people you usually text, since a conversation is the version you would most want to have had.
