The mistakes you made at seventeen are tuition, not a tattoo.

CREATIVITY

WHAT THIS MEANS

Early errors were made with an unfinished brain, no experience and whatever information was available at the time. They bought you something: an understanding of consequences that nobody can hand you in advance. Treating them as permanent marks keeps you paying for a course you already completed. Most people are far less interested in your old record than you are.

Say what you learned from the worst one out loud, in a single sentence. If someone is still owed an apology, make it once and then stop. Spend the energy you were using on the memory on something the current version is building.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

What teenage mistake do you still treat as permanent?
