You get to decide what your worst year was for.

A bad year does not arrive with a meaning attached. It is a stretch of time that hurt, and nothing about it required you to deserve it. What you get later, sometimes much later, is a say in what you carry out of it. That is not the same as being glad it happened, and nobody is asking you to be.

There is no rush on this. If the year is still close, it is allowed to just be hard for now. When you are ready, name one thing you understand differently because of it and leave the rest alone.
