Not everything you know needs to be said. Discretion is knowing which doors stay shut.

LEADERSHIP
Knowing something creates a small pressure to say it, and that pressure feels a lot like honesty while it is happening. It usually is not. Discretion is not lying or being cold, it is understanding that some information belongs to the person it is about, and that being the one who knows it does not make you the one who gets to move it. The skill is noticing the urge and letting it pass.
Before you share something, take one breath and ask whose story it actually is. If the answer is not yours, let it stay where it was put.
Is there something you know that is better left unsaid?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
