An opinion you never looked into is just a feeling wearing a costume.

There is a difference between what you believe and what you absorbed, and from the inside they feel identical. A view you picked up from a friend, a video, or a mood you were in that week arrives already sounding like a conclusion. The confidence is borrowed. That is why saying it out loud in an argument often reveals there was never much under it.

Take one position you defend regularly and go find out where you got it. Read something by a person who disagrees, all the way through. You may end up holding the same view, except now it will actually be yours.
