Someone learned it faster than you. Cool. The test doesn’t ask how long it took.

CREATIVITY

WHAT THIS MEANS

Speed of acquisition is a comparison that stops mattering the moment both people know the thing. Nobody checks afterward, and whoever took three weeks has exactly what the person who took three days has. The rate mostly reflects prior exposure and circumstance anyway. Treating it as a ranking turns a difference in starting position into a judgment about you.

Measure against the material rather than against the room. Ask whether you can do the thing now, and if not, what specifically is still missing. Comparison earns its keep only when you are borrowing somebody’s method, which is a fine reason to ask how they did it.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Whose speed are you measuring yourself against for no reason?
