Things built around one temperament work beautifully for people who share it and badly for everyone else. Robustness means the structure holds whether the person running it is fast or careful, loud or quiet, because the essentials live in the design rather than in a particular style.

Ask whether someone quite unlike you could run this well. If it only works for people who think as you do, you have built a narrower thing than you intended, and the fix is usually making the implicit parts explicit.
