Everybody in the comments is an expert. Almost nobody in the comments has done the thing.

Confidence is free to type and costs nothing to be wrong about, so a comment section fills up with people who have read about a thing rather than people who have done it. The two sound identical in writing. The difference only shows up in the details, because someone who has actually done it talks about the boring parts, the failures, the third attempt.

When you are taking advice, ask a quiet question first: has this person done the thing. Look for the specifics that only doing produces. One person who has been there beats fifty who have opinions about it.
