Driving in circles so you don’t have to ask for directions isn’t independence. It’s just burning gas.

Refusing help can look like self-reliance from the inside while costing you time, money, and the thing you were trying to get to. The fear underneath it is usually small and social, something about not wanting to look like you do not know. Independence is being able to get where you are going. Staying silent while lost is just a preference for looking capable over being it.

Notice one place where you are quietly going in circles. A subject, a form you cannot figure out, a piece of a job. Ask one person one question about it this week and see how much time you buy back.
