Being broke while you’re building something is a phase. Being broke because you’re building nothing is a pattern.

Two situations can look identical from outside and be completely different underneath. Having very little while you are learning, training or building has a direction to it, and the direction is the part that matters. Plenty of people are short of money for reasons that have nothing to do with their choices, and that is not what is being described here. The question is only whether your effort is going somewhere.

Look at what your hours are buying. If they are going into something that compounds, keep going. If nothing is being built yet, pick one thing and put a few hours a week into it.
