Put more of your energy into things that will still matter after the battery dies.

Almost everything a phone holds is rented. The streak, the score, the number under the post, all of it depends on a charged battery and somebody else’s server staying up. What is left when the screen goes black is narrower and more durable: what your hands can do, who trusts you, what you know, who sat with you.

Try one evening with the phone in another room and watch what you reach for instead. Whatever you pick is a clue worth taking seriously. Put a little more of next week into that thing and see whether the week feels heavier or lighter.
