One trip somewhere different will teach you your “normal” is just one version of normal.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Whatever you grew up inside feels like the baseline rather than one option among many. Dinner at a certain hour, how loud a house is allowed to get, what people talk about, what counts as rude. None of it looks like a choice until you stand somewhere it is done differently, and then your own defaults suddenly look like decisions somebody made.
The trip does not have to be far. Eat at a friend’s house, spend a weekend in a different town, go to something you were not raised in. Pay attention to the small stuff that surprises you, because that is where the assumptions live.
Where have you been that made home look like a choice?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
