You’ll never see where your kindness ends up. That’s fine. It keeps traveling after you leave.

Kindness does not stay where you put it. Somebody has a better afternoon because of you, is easier on the next person, and by the third handoff it has nothing to do with you at all. You will never get the report back. The absence of a report is not evidence that nothing happened.

Stop measuring by the response you get. Hold the door, cover the shift, say the encouraging thing out loud instead of only thinking it, and let it go without watching where it lands. Then do the same tomorrow without checking.
