Acting too cool to care is the most boring trend there is. The people who change things care out loud.

Pretending not to care is the cheapest position available, because it cannot be disproved and it risks nothing. It also produces nothing, which is why the detached pose gets boring once you have watched a few hundred people hold it. Everything that has ever been made came from somebody who was visibly, slightly embarrassingly invested in it.

Say out loud that you want something, in front of another person, this week. Enter the thing, try out, admit the project matters to you. The discomfort passes and the reputation you build is far more useful.
