Remember playing outside until the streetlights came on, for no reason at all? That’s still allowed.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Streetlights used to be the only clock that mattered, and nothing about that has been made illegal since. What changed is the sense that unstructured time needs a justification, so play got swapped for things that count toward something, and being outside for no reason started to feel slightly childish.
Take one afternoon this week with no purpose attached. No goal, no posting, nothing to show afterwards. If it feels like a waste for the first twenty minutes, stay out anyway, because that feeling is exactly what you are practising against.
When did you last play outside for no reason whatsoever?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
