A delay does not only cost you time; it changes who you are standing next to and which room you walk into. You never get to see the version of the day where the bus came on schedule, so the good things that arrived through inconvenience go uncounted. Most people can find one friendship, one job, or one idea that only exists because something ran late.

The next time you are stuck waiting, try keeping your head up for five of those minutes instead of going straight to the phone. Say something to whoever is stuck with you. Nothing may come of it, and occasionally something does.
