Make peace with being misunderstood. It’s cheaper than explaining yourself forever.

Some people have already decided what you are, and no amount of explaining will move them, because the version they hold is doing something for them. Chasing that is a job with no finish line. Every correction invites another round, and the whole time you are living at their pace, adjusting yourself for an audience that is not really listening. A certain amount of being misread is just the cost of existing around other people.

Decide who gets your explanations: the few whose opinion actually affects your life. Everyone else gets your behavior over time, which is slower and far more convincing anyway.
