Peer pressure only works on people who haven’t decided yet. Decide early.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Pressure does its work in the gap between the question and your answer. If you have not thought about it beforehand, you are deciding in front of an audience with three seconds on the clock, and that is a terrible place to reason from. People who seem immune usually just did the thinking somewhere quiet weeks ago.
Name two or three things you already know you will not do, before any weekend puts them in front of you. Say them plainly to yourself. Then you are not deciding in the moment, only reporting a decision, and that takes far less nerve.
What have you already decided before the party even starts?
