Judging people is a shortcut for not having to understand them.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Reaching a verdict closes the file. Once somebody is lazy or fake or a try-hard, you are finished thinking, and the relief is in being finished, because understanding takes longer and might complicate what you already decided. Most snap judgments are less about the person than about wanting the thinking to be over.
Take one person you have written off and learn something you did not know: what their week looks like, what they are carrying, why they do the thing that irritates you. You do not have to like them afterward. You will just be holding a fuller picture.
Who did you file away before learning anything about them?
