Some qualities have no public league table: patience, honesty with yourself, how you treat people who cannot help you. Because nobody ranks them, improving them is unpolluted by status and stays genuinely about the thing. It is also where most of the difference in a life actually gets made.

Choose one unrankable quality and set yourself a private mark in it. How long you can stay calm, how quickly you admit a mistake. Keep the score to yourself. That is what keeps it honest.
