Old journals are proof that you survived every crisis you thought would end you.

CREATIVITY

WHAT THIS MEANS

Old writing is a record kept by someone who did not know the ending. Reading it back, you meet a version of yourself certain that one week would be the end of everything, and you know, holding the page, that it was not. That does not make the fear silly. It means your track record of getting through things is longer than it feels from inside the current one.

Write something down this week even if it is three lines about a bad Tuesday. Date it. In a year it becomes evidence you cannot argue with, and evidence is more use than reassurance when the next hard week arrives.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Which past crisis would surprise you now by how small?
