Boarding order sorts people inside a process that ends identically for everyone on board. The plane does not know the sequence, and the wheels touch down at one time for all of you. A surprising amount of ranking works that way: real inside the building, invisible the second you step outside it.

Before you spend a week fighting for a position, ask whether it changes the landing. Some do. Plenty are just an order people agreed to stand in, and stepping out of that line costs you nothing.
